Day 1: La Paz – Charazani

We will go to Charazani. Along the way, we’ll find numerous places of interest, views of the Lake Titicaca, the colonial church of Carabuca, views of the Cordillera, old Inca terraces nearby Charazani, thermal baths and a variety of landscapes. The further we go, the rougher the road gets and the more authentic the villages become.

Day 2: Charazani – Apolo

We continue our way by jeep. On the way, we’ll see spectacular waterfalls, including the gorgeous “Velo de Novia” (Bridal veil). The jeep will have to cross numerous streams. We will take our time to give you the opportunity to experience the sensation of a natural shower. It takes about 5 hours to get to Apolo, which is the centre of the region and borders to Madidi National Park. In this laidback town, you will have the opportunity to stroll around the town and get in touch with its friendly inhabitants. We will stay overnight in a monastery, inhabited by 12 nuns. This open monastery is part of a religious centre and an educational centre for local kids.

Day 3: Apolo – Asariamas

This day includes a spectacular 4WD ride down to the Tuichi River. During this four-hour 4WD ride we will pass three different eco-systems. This is something unique considering the size of the area. A community, called Asariamos, is situated on both sides of the Tuichi River surrounded by rainforest. Through small-scale eco-tourism, we are trying to help them to improve their standard of living. Of course, we try to minimize our impact on them. In the afternoon, a local guide will share his knowledge of plant and tree species that we find along the way. That night, we will camp on the banks of the Tuichi River.

Day 5/6: Eslabon River – San José of Uchupiamonas
Early in the morning we will get ready for rafting/kayaking. These two days we’ll spend at least 5 hours per day on the river. But we’ll also do some hiking in the jungle. The guide will talk about the medicinal, poisonous and other plant and tree species found there. Of course, we hope to observe some of the abundant wildlife that inhabits this area. We can also go fishing, in hopes of some excitement and adding flavor to our dinner. It is almost sure that you will observe some nocturnal mammals or rodents during the one and a half hour night walk.
