Tsaritsyno is located in the south of Moscow and includes an architectural complex of the late 18th century, Greenhouses, Historical Landscaped Park with ponds and new park zones with Light dynamic fountain.
The palace complex created as a suburb residence of the Empress Catherine II. It was designed and built by the famous architect Vasily Bazhenov in gothic style. Later the new Grand Palace by Matvey Kazakov became the center of composition.
During our trip you will see the gothic palaces designed by two most remarkable architects of 18th century, we will compare their buildings on one territory and find out why Catherine II changed architects and why she refused to live in the Palace and we will find out the destiny of the Residence after her death.
We will visit the Palace inside. Even though the interior was completed by modern architects not long ago, it strictly corresponds to the architecture of 18th century with the spacious golden halls decorated with different stones and stucco.
The territory covers 405 hectares, we will visit the main ponds and fountains and fantastic gothic bridges made by order of Catherine II.
