Climb to the summit of Rio de Janeiro’s Tijuca Mountain on a combined 5-hour National Forest tour by car, followed by a trek to the top to stand 3,420 feet above sea level. Enjoy the most spectacular views of the mountains and coast of Rio.  At 3,420 feet (1,021 meters) above sea level, the summit of the Tijuca Mountain in Rio de Janeiro is the highest point of the Tijuca National Park. On this 5-hour tour, you will cross most of the urban forest by car, before hiking to the top of the mountain, ending with a climb up the 117-step stairway that was carved out of solid gneiss rock more than 100 years ago for a visiting European king. To reach the start of the trail you will cross almost all of Tijuca Forest by car, passing various waterfalls and scenic views to observe the city from a range of perspectives. Stop off in São Conrado for a picture postcard photo opportunity. You will also get the chance to visit the Taunay Waterfall, the highest cascade in the forest. At Solitude Dam, stop to watch the birds and fish. Then, hike past scenic viewpoints, such as Emperor’s Table, Chinese Viewpoint, and Monkey's Waterfall. At the summit of Tijuca, you will be rewarded with breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views of Rio de Janeiro, providing the perfect opportunity to find your bearings in this complicated city!
