This excursion begins with the pueblo of Unión Zapata where we will meet our local guide and begin the hike. The trail takes us through a natural botanical garden where you will have the opportunity to learn about various medicinal plants and how they are used for traditional healing. In addition to the amazing vistas, the highlights of this hike are the ancients caves of “La Paloma” and “Los Machines,” both containing prehistoric paintings. After working our way back to the starting point, we will enjoy a homemade lunch, followed by a visit to the town of Xaaga for a second hike. Here, we will explore ancient caves containing pictographs representing the history of this beautiful community.
