
The Tretyakov gallery is one of the biggest Russian art museums situated in Moscow historical district Zamoskvorechye. Its paintings were collected by a Russian rich philanthropist Pavel Tretyakov in the late 19th century in his own house, and the peculiarity of this collection is that it consists exclusively of Russian artists' masterpieces of the 18th and 19th centuries. The gallery helps in getting acquainted not only with the Russian painting which evolved rapidly under the influence of European artists, but also with the history of the country, its major events, social problems, nature.
