This adventure begins right here at the bike shop in downtown Vallarta. We'll jump on the car and follow the gorgeous Rio Cuale for 5K, where we'll pass through the small, colorful pueblos of Paso Ancho, Paso del Guayabo, and Los Almacenes. Once we get to Los Alamacenes, we will leave the car and get ready for our hike. Starting the hiking portion of this trip, we make our way up the edge of the River Cuale taking in the sights and sounds of the morning: macaws, iguanas, and freshwater trout swimming downstream. After crossing the river twice (you may get wet!), we begin the infamous trek up "La Herradura." Navigating roots, rocks, and loose sections, we will be rewarded with the first of many spectacular vistas.
Take in the view of the Bay of Banderas and the hill from where we started way off in the distance before we continue on our way. We continue hiking along the ridgelines of the majestic Sierra Madre mountain ranges for 3 more kilometers until we reach our destination, El Salto! One of the largest and most spectacular waterfalls in the region, this incredible spot never disappoints. Here we can cliff jump, swim, or merely bask in the warm Mexican sun enjoying the sounds of nature. Don't get too comfortable though, we still have to hike out of this beautiful river valley to get back to the car! Discuss with your guide alternate routes to take back if you are feeling adventurous, but all roads lead back to Los Almacenes where our car will be waiting for us.
